Please thank your operative who has killed all our bed bugs - he was polite and thorough...
Mr Uddin, London E17
A common site across London, Feral Pigeons (commonly misspelt pigeon) are descended from Rock Doves which used to inhabit coastal areas. This opportunist bird has moved away from the coast to nest inland and favours tall city buildings.
Unlike wood pigeons, feral pigeons roost high up on buildings where their excement carries the risk of disease and can damage brick and stonework.
Seagulls can be a nuisance bird creating constant noise and mess outside of their natural coastal habitat. They are a large bird and during the breeding season can become very aggressive with attacks on humans not uncommon.
Like Pigeons, there is both a health risk from their droppings and nesting materials and the danger of damage to buildings.
Bird proofing systems involve a number of proactive measures to deter these problem birds. Bird netting, bird points and sprung pin and wire systems can all be employed to ensure the problem species are not able to cause problems on or around the protected building.
