Carpet Beetles are becoming an increased problem found in homes across the country and one of the reasons for this being the rise in modern homes which consist of central heating systems and carpets fitted in most rooms. Carpet Beetles will usually reside outside, feeding on pollen and seeds, however during the winter months they will move into the home for shelter, food and warmth. Carpet Beetles will enter the home through doors, windows or any other open areas, they can even be carried in from plants or flowers which have been in the garden. These insects will make their way from one room to another slowly increasing in numbers and size as they will feed off carpets and fabrics, these beetles do not pose a real threat as they do not carry germs or cause any health problems, however they are a nuisance to have within the home as they can ruin carpets and fabrics.
There are four stages of the Carpet Beetle, first is the egg then the larvae and finally the pupae before they reach the adult stage. Each beetle can lay on average up to 100 eggs which normally takes around 35 days to hatch, it is then that they feed on household fabrics in order to grow into an adult. These insects can be quite hard to spot and will usually only appear at night.
Carpet Beetles can be identified as being fairly small in size, around 1.5-4mm in length and vary in colour depending upon the species however the average carpet beetle is an oval shape with brown grey and cream patterns over the body.
Before we treat against this species it is imperative that access to all wall floor junctions and damaged fibres is available. We can then proceed to treat with residual and knockdown chemicals. A four hour exclusion time is required after this treatment is completed.

We have compiled a list of the top ten pests within the London region over the last year.
Bed Bugs
Humans and warm blooded animals are the chosen food source for bed bugs and this has become the number 1 pest in London. These insects feed mostly at night when you are asleep causing small, hard bites on the skin. The bite can easily become inflamed and itchy and sometimes causes a blotchy reaction. Bed bugs will then hide away till they are ready for their next meal. They can be very difficult to erradicate - we very often undertake two treatments to make sure they don't return...
Supplied with free mask and gloves, SX Cyperbug Insectide spray is ideal against a range of crawling insects: Carpet Beetles, Clothes Moths, Fleas, Cockroaches and Bed Bugs.
In all cases these infestations can be VERY difficult to control and larger infestations should always be treated by a qualified technician using professional insecticides. Phone freephone 0800 0854460 for more information, quotes and treatment schedules.
