There are two known species of the Moth which are popular and regularly found within the UK, these are the Common Clothes Moth and the Indian Meal Moth both of which are similar in appearance so when found within the home it is important to identify which problem you have. Common Clothes Moth Clothes moths will generally do what they say and destroy clothing. These moths were popular problems found within the 1950s through to the 1970s, however they are now starting to make a reappearance. These moths will set up home within wardrobes and on fabric furniture, they are also hard to spot during the day as they prefer the dark, they can also be weak flyers therefore they will stay in confined spaces usually hiding themselves in the darkest parts of your wardrobe or under collars or cuffs of clothing. Although they are hard to spot they can also be fairly active and on rare occasions be noticed crawling on the floor. Contrary to belief it is not the Moth itself which destroys fabrics it is in fact the Larvae (or eggs) they will use fabrics as their only source of food consumption which enables them, in time, to grow into adult moths. Each larvae will eventually spin a cocoon in which it will change into an Adult Moth, the larvae will stay cocooned for around one or two months and then emerge ready to mate. On average an adult moth can lay between 100-150 eggs in their lifetime and around 40-50 over a period of two weeks. A clothes moth can be identified as having a wingspan of around half an inch (males sometimes measure a little less) and they are golden in colour with a little redness on their head. All moths can be identified as having three pairs of legs.
Indian Meal Moths are the opposite to Clothes Moths as they spend most of their time around foods. These moths are attracted to areas of light especially areas where foods are being stored such as a pantry, however because they like to take up residence in these areas they provide a health risk and can easily contaminate foods especially as a female moth has a tendency to lay eggs next to foods. Indian Meal Moths can be identified as having a wingspan of 10-15mm and can range in colour depending on the types of foods they have eaten, however their usual colour being a copper red or pale yellow, this moth also has six legs and is able to survive all year round if kept in warm premises.
One treatment is necessary to all rooms within the house and a four hour exclusion time is required after this treatment is completed. CALL THE MOTH REMOVAL EXPERTS NOW ON 0800 0854460.

We have compiled a list of the top ten pests within the London region over the last year.
Bed Bugs
Humans and warm blooded animals are the chosen food source for bed bugs and this has become the number 1 pest in London. These insects feed mostly at night when you are asleep causing small, hard bites on the skin. The bite can easily become inflamed and itchy and sometimes causes a blotchy reaction. Bed bugs will then hide away till they are ready for their next meal. They can be very difficult to erradicate - we very often undertake two treatments to make sure they don't return...
Supplied with free mask and gloves, SX Cyperbug Insectide spray is ideal against a range of crawling insects: Carpet Beetles, Clothes Moths, Fleas, Cockroaches and Bed Bugs.
In all cases these infestations can be VERY difficult to control and larger infestations should always be treated by a qualified technician using professional insecticides. Phone freephone 0800 0854460 for more information, quotes and treatment schedules.
