Mr Miah, London N8
Cockroaches are the oldest living species of insect found across the world they are common in every country and England is no exception. There are around 4,000 different species of cockroaches however there are only four which are common in this country and they are the American, German, Asian and Oriental. Cockroaches are most commonly found hiding in kitchens or bathrooms areas which are warm, damp or dark, they spend most of their time crawling around in filth as they feed off of human waste, rubbish from bins and any crumbs or old foods left lying around. Due to their living habits cockroaches are also known to carry a number of diseases such as Salmonella and Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, to name a few, which are easily spread to humans especially as cockroaches are known to lay their eggs near foods and laundry.
Interestingly cockroaches are able to live up to a month without food but only survive two weeks without water and because the brain of the cockroach is located within their body rather than their head a cockroach is able to live for around a week without their head. The Female of this species is the egg carrier and remains pregnant for their entire life, they will reproduce up to 150 eggs each year which is why there are always a large number around.
Cockroaches are identified as having a flattened shape body which allows them to enter buildings easily and climb through cracks and doors. Cockroaches have six legs and each leg possess tiny hairs which enables them to identify things through the sense of touch. These insects also have two large antennae, are black or brown in colour and surprisingly they have compound eyes which are known to have around 4000 individual lenses which help them to see in all directions.
Sticky traps will be employed to determine the worst affected areas and to monitor the progress of the treatment. Additionally Residual spray treatments are carried out which include an insect growth regulator to break the lifecycle of the insect and also cockroach gel is applied to cracks and crevices ensuring no further outbreaks. A four hour exclusion time is required after this treatment is completed. CALL THE COCKROACH EXTERMINATORS NOW ON 0800 0854460.

We have compiled a list of the top ten pests within the London region over the last year.
Bed Bugs
Humans and warm blooded animals are the chosen food source for bed bugs and this has become the number 1 pest in London. These insects feed mostly at night when you are asleep causing small, hard bites on the skin. The bite can easily become inflamed and itchy and sometimes causes a blotchy reaction. Bed bugs will then hide away till they are ready for their next meal. They can be very difficult to erradicate - we very often undertake two treatments to make sure they don't return...
