RATS AND MICE

Rats and Mice are classed as rodents and all rodents will act fairly similar, they cause the same problems to humans and both of these sets of rodents have five main senses and they are; smell, touch, hearing, sight and taste. Rodents will use these senses in order to search for foods and shelter the most important senses being the hearing as it is very sensitive and the sense of touch which is the most developed within young rodents. All rodents are dangerous to the general public as they will carry upon them a number of harmful, or even deadly, diseases and bacteria.

RATS

The two most popular rat species found in this country is the Brown Rat and the Black Rat.

The Brown Rat (also known as the Common or Norway Sewer Rat) this breed of rat can be found close to humans living in farmyards, commercial buildings, schools and even houses. The Brown Rat can be identified as being brown to grey black colour and has relatively small eyes and ears and can weigh up to 550g, its average life expectancy is around 12 months.

The Black Rat (also known as the ship rat) is usually a nocturnal rodent and can be heard running around at night time, they will hide in walls and roof areas and can be found in small groups. Black rats are very good climbers and can easily get around, they can be identified through the length of their tail as it is longer than the size of the rats body and head put together, they are also a black to brown colour, have a lighter underside and weigh up to 300g.

Mice

Field Mice and the House Mouse are the two breeds most commonly found in this country.

Field Mice (also known as the Wood Mouse) like to take up residence near forests, fields and hedgerows and will stay close to areas which can provide them with food and shelter. This breed can be identified as having enormous eyes and only grow up to 10cm long in adulthood. These rodents can live for up to 12 months and will constantly reproduce.

The House Mouse is most commonly found living around your home, business or at farms and they are able to adapt easily to different living spaces. These rodents will easily cause a great deal of damage to your home if left to run free. The House Mouse can be identified as having fairly large ears but small eyes and can be up to seven and a half inches long and light grey in colour.

Treatment

Treatment is undertaken using a combination of traps and tamper resistant bait stations containing poisoned food baits.

Baiting is carried out as a two treatment programme over a 14 day period to ensure complete eradication, we will identify where the rodents are gaining access and recommend proofing requirements, we can carry out this work if required to do so. CALL THE RODENT EXTERMINATORS NOW ON 0800 0854460

Top 10 London Pests

We have compiled a list of the top ten pests within the London region over the last year.

Bed Bugs

Humans and warm blooded animals are the chosen food source for bed bugs and this has become the number 1 pest in London. These insects feed mostly at night when you are asleep causing small, hard bites on the skin. The bite can easily become inflamed and itchy and sometimes causes a blotchy reaction. Bed bugs will then hide away till they are ready for their next meal. They can be very difficult to erradicate - we very often undertake two treatments to make sure they don't return...
